Vitamins and trace elements for a beautiful skin

Vitamin A (beta-carotene) and other antioxidants

Healthy skin depends on a good supply of vitamin A or beta-carotene, its precursor. Vitamin A plays a central role in skin structure and health. An insufficient supply can lead to dry skin, for example. Vitamin A and beta-carotene are also antioxidants. Omega-3 fatty acids 

Omega-3 fatty acids are part of the cell membranes (cell walls) that surround and protect each cell. They provide them with the necessary stability and a good water balance. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish, nuts and linseed, for example.


Vitamin C 

Vitamin C is one of the most important vitamins and is, among other things, a cofactor for the production of collagen. Vitamin C is found in natural form in sea buckthorn berries, peppers, blackcurrants and parsley. Citrus fruits, potatoes, cabbage, spinach and tomatoes also contain a lot of vitamin C.


Selenium 

Selenium helps to preserve normal hair and nails and also helps to protect cells from oxidative stress. Selenium is found in animal and plant foods. Its content is particularly high in meat, fish, nuts and mushrooms.


Biotin 

Biotin also contributes to the preservation of skin and hair. It is involved in the formation of creatine. Creatine is the basic substance of hair, but it is also contained as a structural protein in skin and nails. Biotin is naturally found in foods such as eggs, nuts, oatmeal and soya beans, but also in wheat germ and mushrooms.


Zinc 

Zinc is one of the most important essential trace elements for the human body and must be absorbed daily with food. Zinc contributes to the preservation of hair, nails and skin, especially because it is essential for protein synthesis, collagen formation and wound healing. In addition, it is an important antioxidant. Zinc is also involved in the metabolism of vitamin A and contributes to the metabolism of omega-3 fatty acids. Zinc is found, for example, in beef, pork and poultry, as well as in milk and cheese.
